Why Our Work is Important
The loss of B.C.’s wild salmon stocks will have a profound, cascading effect on the province. A vital source of food for wildlife including the grizzly bear, the sea lion, the bald eagle and the Orca will vanish; the tourism industry, which relies heavily on both the recreational angler and wildlife viewing to make a living, will see revenues plummet; and the First Nation communities that have traditionally counted on the wild salmon for their livelihood and as a key component of their culture will see both greatly altered. Local communities will lose a valuable food supply too.
